This workshop looks at issues that arise as new volunteers enter your organisation. It is directed at newly appointed volunteer managers and coordinators, and others intending to utilise volunteers in their organisation.

Aim

To give participants an understanding of the appropriate strategies and processes associated with recruiting, retaining and leading volunteers, and their responsibilities in relation to duty-of-care.

Topics include:

  • What is a volunteer – their rights and responsibilities, and yours
  • The types of volunteers and their motivations
  • Identifying your volunteer roles and duties
  • Recruiting volunteers, including sourcing volunteers, developing job descriptions and interviewing
  • Leading volunteer teams
  •   Retaining your volunteers – good leadership and management, and the importance of recognition and reward
  • Who Cares? Duty-of-Care for managers and coordinators of volunteers
