Recruiting, Inducting and Managing Volunteers (1 day)

This workshop highlights the importance of these three aspects in the motivation and retention of volunteers. Participants will be encouraged to re-assess the activities, policies and processes of their own organisation in these areas in light of current statistical information and new concepts. It is suitable for both experienced and newly appointed managers and coordinators of volunteers.

To familiarise participants with simple and new concepts with regard to the recruitment, induction and management of volunteers.

  • Specifying your organisations job requirements and expectations – the Position Description
  • Identifying the needs and motivations of your applicants and volunteers, and how best to satisfy them
  • The recruitment process
  • Effective interviewing – how good are you as an interviewer?
  • The importance of good induction and orientation – how to plan and manage the process
  • Managing to motivate and retain, to build capacity in your organisation
  • Creating a positive workplace environment
