Effective Leadership (Master Class - 2 days)
Aim
To assist participants to improve their leadership effectiveness. Importantly, it does this by building on their individual and collective experiences and uses their actual work situations as the vehicle for discussion and understanding the application of the leadership model and associated techniques.
This is an intensely practical, hands-on two-day workshop involving a high level of participation. The number of participents is limited to 12.
Topics include:
- Understanding the nature of leadership and its application in today’s society.
- What makes the third sector different?
- New approaches to effective community and not-for-profit leadership
- Knowing yourself and how your personality will impact on your leadership effectiveness.
- Understanding the people you lead.
- Understanding and using the simple and effective Situational Leadership model.
- Developing strategies and an action plan to immediately commence improving your leadership effectiveness.
During the workshop participants will:
- Identify their preferred leadership style.
- Identify their personality style.
- Learn how to determine the personality style of others.
- Be able to assess a persons readiness to undertake a particular task and determine the most appropriate leadership style for that level of readiness.
- Identify the changes they will need to make and the skills they will need to develop I order to improve their leadership effectiveness.
The Situational Leadership model by Paul Hershey & Ken Blanchard, and the Merrill & Reid Social Styles model will form the basis of the workshop. Participants will receive a range of assessment tools and reference materials relating to the two models including, where applicable, spare copies for later on-job use, as well as a comprehensive workbook.
