Low cost training for managers of volunteers
The School has been allocated a limited number of places in the NSW Productivity Places Program (PPP), which is part of the Australian Government’s Skilling for the Future Initiative. It means a boost of 175,000 funded qualifications for existing workers in NSW up to 2012 across industry priority areas, such as community services and health.
The Program allows successful applicants to enroll in either the Diploma of Business or Diploma of Management for only 50 percent of the normal course fee. While eligibility criteria and other conditions apply, please give consideration to this wonderful opportunity.
Further information is available on the SVM website or telephone Mark Tippett at the School on 02 9261 3600 (Wednesdays to Fridays).
As a participant, what time do you have to give?
Each unit has its own leaner guide that you read through and complete any workplace self assessment activities. For your tutor to assess your skills and knowledge, each unit may have two-three assessment tasks you need to complete. These may be question and answers and short essays.
The average time for each unit to complete is about 4-6 weeks – ample time for those with busy and full lives to pave the way for increased professional development. The PPP funding terminates at the end of 2010, therefore all training and assessment has to be completed by December 2010.
Eligibility for training
To be eligible to enrol participants must not be currently enrolled in secondary or other tertiary education and training and be Australian citizens, permanent Australian residents or Humanitarian Refugees.
An enrolment fee is payable by each participant. That payment is in line with the Department of Education and Training’s nominated enrolment fee. The fee for a full diploma is only $1242 (12 month period only from date of enrolment). Savings on training costs using the PPP are in excess of 50% of normal course fees for diplomas.
For further information about the funding, or whether Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may apply, visit the SVM website (www.svm.edu.au) or contact Mark Tippett at the School on 02 9261 3600 or email mtippett@volunteering.com.au.
