CAVI pathways – distance learning or RPL

Have you been volunteering for some time? Why not reward your efforts with a Cert I in Active Volunteering through a recognition pathway. The Cert I in Active Volunteering is a six-unit program with a voluntary experience component of 30 hours. This program may be studied through distance learning with support from a supervisor, or through RPL.

Under the Australian Quality Training Framework, competencies may be attained through:

  • formal or informal training and education
  • work experience
  • life experience
  • any combination of the above

Recognition of Prior Learning:

  • avoids duplication of training, thereby maximising the value of vocational education and training expenditure.
  • provides pathways to higher qualifications for people who may not have access to further training.
  • creates a learning culture by valuing and recognising learning that has occurred in the workplace.

Building your evidence portfolio for RPL for the Certificate I may only take one afternoon or several weeks. Evidence includes: duty statements, third party reports, references, examples of work.

Reward yourself.
